Oak had fun getting acquainted with their new topic for this term “Wonderful World”. We started off by learning an African dance. This was quite tricky, but everyone joined in. Then we had an around the world food tasting session. The children were all keen to try different flavours from around the globe. They sampled: baguette from France, cheese from Holland, naan bread from India, salami from Germany and even chilli from Mexico! The class favourite were the biscuits from Italy. We used an atlas to help us find these countries on the world map and talked about how we are lucky to be able to have such a variety of foods from other countries available to us in the UK.
Our costumes were broad and really encapsulated the spirit of the day. We had animals such as a chicken, snow leopard, white rhino, rainbow bird, dog, dinosaur and cat. We had a several wonderful professions including A&E surgeon, footballer, rugby player, farmer, cyclist and army soldier. There were lots of beautiful rainbows and butterflies. We even had the ocean and a tree! Thank you so much to all the parents/carers for their brilliant effort with costumes.
