This week in class 1 we have been investigating autumn fruits and vegetables.
We have been using all of our senses to observe and describe what we can see, feel and smell. We found out that when we cut the fruit and vegetables in half, they looked very different on the inside compared with the outside. Some felt smooth and slippery on the inside but hard and bumpy on the outside, this is to protect it from being damaged. Some vegetables were covered in leaves for protection as well, sweetcorn! We also discovered that all the fruits and vegetables, apart from the cabbage and carrots, had pips and seeds inside. We have kept some to sow next season.
We then chose a fruit or vegetable to observe closely and then draw. We had to look at the shapes of the fruit and vegetables and then choose the correct colours.
We will be sharing are art work at the harvest festival this week.
