Birch Class had a fantastic topic day for the launch of their new topic – Extreme Earth.
We started the day thinking about volcanoes. We learnt how they erupt and wrote poetry to describe them. We took part in an experiment to watch a small volcanic eruption, some so powerful we hit the ceiling! We had some fun in PE playing games such as volcanoes and mountains with the cones and then we finished off with some gorgeous tsunami pastel drawings based on The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai.
We had some absolutely amazing costumes. Children came dressed up as storm clouds, lightening, volcanoes, paleontologists, scientists, geologists, weather reporters and more – the level of effort put in was astounding, so well done to you all!
